Create an Easy Box--Perfect for a Basket!

As promised, here's some directions and pictures to make a quick and easy box that serves well as a basket.  I made mine from So Saffron Textured Card Stock.  I didn't stamp on this one, but if you want to, do that before assembling the box.

Cut card stock to 11" x 11".  Score at 1" and 4" on all four sides.  Cut away the 1" pieces EXCEPT for the middle 3" panel on all four sides.  Cut the two 4" score lines on two opposite sides.

Eggbasket1

You can see in this picture that I cut away the 1" pieces EXCEPT for the middle panels and I have two cut lines on opposite sides.

Next, cut each of the 1" flaps on an angle.

Eggbasket2

The other side of this flap will be cut at the opposite angle.

Next assemble the box by folding the two outside panels in.  You can see in the picture that the front panel has the two flaps folded in and so does the back panel.  Also this picture shows the 1" flaps cut on the angles.  Use Sticky Strip to assemble box.

Eggbasket4

Next, use Stampin' Dimensionals to hold down the 1" flaps.

Eggbasket5

To make the handle, use one of your 1" strips that you cut to get the 11" x 11" piece.  Score about a 1" line in the middle of each side.

Eggbasket6

This score line allows you to secure the handle in the corners of the basket--it gives the basket a different twist.  Use Sticky Strip to secure the handle.

Here's your finished basket, with and without eggs!

The eggs have Rub Ons from the Love is Happiness Rub Ons available for FREE during Sale-a-Bration.  Here are some close-ups of the eggs.

Hope you enjoy this tutorial.  Let me know if you have any questions.

I always have a "how to" in my newsletter too, so be sure to sign up for that!  It's a FREE how to just for my newsletter readers--you won't want to miss March's "how to"!  I'll have a sneak peek some time before Tuesday so come back to visit!

Making a Card Without Stamping!

Yes, it's true--you can make a card without stamping!  OK, I know it's been done many times before, but I sell stamps and I made a card without stamping!  Is there irony in that?  Well, if you peeked at the card, you can see that I used Eastern Elegance Rub Ons instead of stamping.  I might have gotten a little carried away, but they are so easy and fun to use that I couldn't help myself!  This card also gives you a sneak peek at some of the great items soon to be available in the new Occasions Mini

Sc1655

Here are some close ups of the Rub Ons.  There are three Rub Ons that you might not see unless you really look carefully.  Do you know which ones I mean?

Sc1651_2  Sc1652 Sc1653

These I'm sure you saw right away.  What's cool with the 3 vertical images is that they were spaced out perfectly on the sheet--no messing around to get them even.  The flower is where I might have gone overboard--the red circle in the middle probably didn't need a rub on with the brad there.   I still like the outcome.

Sc1654

Did you catch these Rub Ons right away?  The black circles in the red flowers are Rub Ons.  How fun is that?  They fit perfectly!  I really like how the Rub Ons make those flowers "pop"!

Now for the details:

Stamp Set:  NONE

Inks: NONE

Card Stock:  Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Real Red, Summer Picnic DSP (Occasions Mini)

Be sure to check back tomorrow here at Stamping With Sheryl.  I'll show how to make a quick and easy basket for a Spring or Easter decoration.  I also have a really cool fancy fold "how to" planned for my next newsletter coming out on March 4.  If you aren't on my email list yet, be sure to sign up using the box in the top left corner.

Thanks for stopping by!

How many brads have you used on a card?

I'm a part of a wonderful group of stampers (most of them are SU! demo's) and we do occasional swaps.  One of the ladies, Rose, has been affectionately dubbed, "The Baroness of Brads" because she LOVES to use brads.  Receiving a swap from her with 7+ brads is not unusual.  So when I made this card, I felt like I might give Rose a run for her money on the "Baroness" title!  This card has 9 brads!  I think that's the most I've ever used!

Sweetceleb1

Don't worry, Rose, I'm not really gunning for your title!  Making one card with 9 brads is very different than making 30+ cards with 9 brads!

Readers, let me know the most number of brads you put on a card--are any of you a "Baroness of Brads"?

Stamp Set:  Sweet Celebrations

Inks: Rose Red

Card Stock:  Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Whisper White, Cutie Pie DSP

Accessories:  Rich Regal Brads, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Crystal Effects (on flower) and Stampin' Dimensionals

Wednesday's WOW!

Don't worry, I know it's not Wednesday today!   I'm just announcing a new monthly class--Wednesday's WOW!  This class will be the first or second Wednesday of each month at my house.  I will offer a morning class and evening class too.  The class will feature a "WOW" and during the class you will create 3 projects using the "WOW".  Cost will be $15.

March's Wednesday WOW will be held Wednesday, March 12 at 9 AM OR 7 PM.  The WOW feature for March will be brads--Build a Brad, Rhinestone Brads and standard brads.  You've used them before, but I hope to teach you a new way to use them.  If you would like to attend this class, registration and prepayment will be due Friday, March 7.

I will also offer kits for my Wednesday WOW classes.  Kits need to be ordered by the day of the class and will ship out two weeks later.  Cost of kits will be $23, which includes shipping.  Once you receive the kit, you will just need to assemble the projects according to the directions.  Any stamped images or punched items will be done for you.

I'm really looking forward to these classes--I think they will be a lot of fun and I hope you can join me each month!

Birthday Whimsy

We are making this card today at Stamp Camp.  I received a swap from Elizabeth Blais that used this layout and the Faux Dry Embossing idea--I thought it was so cute.  Thanks for the great swap, Elizabeth!

Hiding Bunny Easter Card

I had fun with this card.  I've done a few cards with bunnies hiding--they make me smile.  Hope you like this card too.

S6300578

Now just in case you think like my middle son--the bigger bunny is hiding in the grass with his head down.  My son thought that the bunny fell backwards and that his feet were in the foreground!  That really made me laugh and I can see why he would think that--except his tail would be on the wrong side!  I love getting my boys' perception of my cards.  Sometimes they see things I would never think of!

Stamp Set:  A Good Egg (greeting)

Inks:  Brocade Blue, Pretty in Pink

Card Stock:  Pretty in Pink, Brocade Blue, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White

Blogger's Challenge--Sweet Celebrations

This week's challenge is a color combo:  Purely Pomegranate, Brilliant Blue and Old Olive.  I really like these colors together.  I'm also making some samples for my upline's stamping event using Sweet Celebrations.  I decided to make one card that can be used for both!

S6300568

Here's a couple of close ups of the star.

S6300569_2 S6300570_4

What I am really excited about on this card, though, is the Rub Ons!!!  Did you notice I used Rub Ons?  It's right on the ribbon!  Here's a close up.

S6300572

Look how beautifully that turned out!  The process is exactly the same as using a Rub On on paper--just set it in place and carefully "rub on" with the wooden stick provided.

Now, if you want to try the Rub Ons, you can get some for FREE!   One of the Sale-a-Brations choices is the Love and Happiness Rub Ons.  You get 4 sheets!  Email me if you would like to submit a qualifying order and get the Love and Happiness Rub Ons for FREE!

Ink:  Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive

Card Stock:  Brilliant Blue, Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White

Accessories:  Cherished Moments Rub Ons, 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Large Star Punch, 1" Circle Punch, 3/4" Circle Punch, Crystal Effects

Friendship Blooms

This card uses the Color Combo Challenge and Sketch Challenge this week on Splitcoast.  The colors are Pumpkin Pie, Orchid Opulence (I had to dust off this ink pad, lol!) and Certainly Celery.  I never would have come up with this combo on my own, but I really like it.

S6300551

To make the large flower stand out just a bit, I masked it and sponged around it with Pumpkin Pie.  I stamped the image again with Orchid Opulence and cut out the middle flower.  I added a little sparkle with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and a Circle Rhinestone Brad.  The only stamp set I used is Friendship Blooms.  You can earn this stamp set FREE during Sale-a-Bration with a $50 order.

Have a happy stampin' day!

So Many Scallops and Lots of Thoughts--Two Ideas!

So Many Scallops and Lots of Thoughts have been the most picked Sale-a-Bration sets among my customers.  Both can be used for a variety of occasions and who doesn't love the Scallop Punch that coordinates perfectly with the stamp set.

Both this card and this altered Criss Cross Box use the Happy Birthday image from So Many Scallops with the center of it punched out perfectly with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  Then I added a new center with the Many Thanks image from Lots of Thoughts.  I used the Rock and Roll technique on the scallop for both projects.

S6300545

This card is quick and easy!

S6300546

This Criss Cross Box is "altered" because I cut the angle from a different point.  OK, it was a mistake at first, but we really don't know of mistakes in stamping--only an opportunity to alter and embellish!

Do you like the samples you see on my website?  Want to see more?  Be sure to sign up for my newsletter (link is in the top left corner).  Each month I add a quick "how to" and a mid month tip.  Plus you will see projects in the newsletter that I do not post here.

So look around and then be sure to sign up for my newsletter.  You'll be glad you did!

Bud Basics and Lots of Thoughts--Done Simply

At my Stampin' Up! party yesterday, the hostess's daughter (age 7) made one of the make and takes, then she wrote a sweet note in it and gave it to me.  I was very touched and asked her if I could post her card on my website.  She gladly said "yes".  If you have the time, leave a comment for Lydia letting her know how much you appreciate her card!  Thanks!
