Most of you probably know I LOVE SU! Blogger's Challenge Baby Card

Happy Friday!  Although since I took the week off from work, Monday was a happier day, lol!  Back to the grind stone next week (but at least Monday's a holiday!). 

But back to the task at hand--Friday means Blogger's Challenge.  This week the theme was "labor".  We were given a choice of making a patriotic card or a baby card.  I chose a baby card because I need to send one to a gal I know through work--she just had her first baby.

I wanted to personal the card so I grabbed my new JustRite Curlz Font Monogram Stamp to make the initials of the new baby, Cody.  This monogram size, without the border, fits perfectly with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch.

I used Think Happy Thoughts to make my own background.  The circle sentiment is from Sweet Celebrations.  Lastly, "sweet little one" is from Holiday & Wishes.  I used Black Stazon to stamp right on the ribbon.

And...a little announcement.  I'm going to have some Blog Candy to give away this weekend.  I checked my "hits counter" and I'm just shy of 100K hits!  So to celebrate, I'm going to give away some goodies to you!

Scrapbooking Sunday--Plainfield, Illinois

I've added a new monthly class--Scrapbooking Sunday!  It will take place on the 3rd or 4th Sunday of each month (sorry, no class in October) at my house starting at 1pm.  We'll work until 4pm.  The class will consist of creating one double page layout (12 x 12).  I will let you know in advance the colors and "theme" so that you can plan your pictures.  Cost is only $10.  If you sign up and prepay for five classes by the due date for September's class (Sept 21), you will receive the 6th class FREE!!  You can also bring your own materials to continue working on scrapbooking until 4PM. 

Kits will be available each month as well, but add $4 for shipping.

September's class will be extra special.  Each attendee will also complete (if desired) an additional page to donate to Pages for Preemies.  I found this website while on SCS and thought it was an easy and worthwhile good cause.  I will have "girl" and "boy" pages for attendees to complete.

I've also planned my September WOW! Class.  We will create the box that I posted here.  We will create a second box using the Scallop Circle Die.  Cost will be $15 to attend.  Kits will be available as well, but no images will be stamped.  Kits are $15 and add $4 if they need to be shipped.  Registration and prepayment due no later than Wednesday, September 10.  Kits must be purchased by Sept. 10 as well and will ship Thursday, September 18.  For your convenience, you can use the Pay Pal links below.  If you are attending, be sure to state if you will attend the morning or evening class.

Embrace Life--Out of the Box Technique

OK, I may have the name of this technique wrong, but I think it fits.  The small flowers are "out of the box" because they go outside the edge.  It's not a hard technique to do, but packs a great effect!  We will have to do a card with this technique at the next Plainfield and Hoffman Estates Stamp Camp.

Here's a close up of the details. 

The three large flowers are stamped on Rose Red, cut out and sponged.  Originally I had the 2 background flowers "out of the box", but I didn't like the watercoloring I did.  So...it wasn't a mistake; it was a chance to embellish, lol!  The middle flower is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

Top Note Bigz Die Box

Yesterday, Lisa (friend and demo) and I got together.  Look what we made...

LOL!!!  We really did make this mess, but it was all for a good cause.  We challenged ourselves to make a box using the Top Note Bigz Die and the Scallop Circle Die.  If you look in the forefront of the picture, you can see part of Lisa's box made with the Scallop Circle Die.  I made the box with the Top Note Bigz Die.  And here it is...

I know this is a little bit of a tease, but I can't divulge the template right now because this type of box is going to be part of an upcoming class (Sept or Oct).  However, class kits will be available, so stay tuned for the class announcement.

Here's to making a mess and having a stampin' buddy!  I wish all of my "messes" turned out so well, lol!

Baroque Motifs Faux Embossing

This week's SCS Technique challenge is Faux Embossing.  I've done this technique before and always like the outcome.  It's quick and easy to do.  Stamp your image using the same color ink as your card stock.  Then restamp the image slightly off to the side using Whisper White Craft Ink.  You can use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure you line up the Whisper White image just right.

I also used Faux Brads in the four corners.  I really like the dimension Faux Embossing adds to your projects.  So now it's your turn--go Faux Emboss!

Tableau of Terror--Spotlight Technique

Another Spotlight Technique, but at least I'm using a different stamp set, lol!  I really like this new Halloween set, Tableau of Terror.  Since it's an "lined art" image, it lends itself to Watercoloring.  But, that's a lot of watercoloring.  So the Spotlight Technique is good option.

I also used the new Ghostly Greetings Designer Series Paper for my sentiment.  To make sure the sentiment was visible, I embossed it.

It's hard to believe that it really is time to start planning all of your holiday projects.  If you haven't signed up for the Christmas Shoe Box Swap or the Christmas Card Class on October 19, be sure you do.  You can click on the links at the top of the page for all of the information.  Seats are limited for both events, so don't wait.

Inspired by Nature Spotlight Technique

Upsy Daisy Blogger's Challenge

Yeah!  It's Friday!  I know my boys are happy.  They started school yesterday and now they are ready for a break, lol!   We all know how TOUGH that first day of school is!

This week's challenge is a color combo:  Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, More Mustard and Ruby Red.  What a great color combo for fall.

Using my markers to "ink up" this image wasn't really as bad as I thought it might be.  There's enough definition of the lines to make it quite "doable".
