Spooky Spider Decor Element--a Must Have!!

Yesterday I got a box of goodies that included my new Spooky Spider Decor Element.  I put it on a jar that I purchased a while back from Ikea.  My Spooky Spider is the medium size and he was just a bit long for the jar.  But, I just trimmed his legs a little. 

 

Isn't he spooktaclular???  I put a piece of white paper in just so you can see him.  The ribbon is Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango Striped Ribbon (perfect Halloween colors).

Why is the really spooky picture?  Because look at all those Snickers that will be in my house and will hopefully make it to Halloween!!  LOL!

Thankful Thoughts--A Different Take on Stained Glass

I've had a few questions on how I made this card using Stampin' Write Markers.  My Stamp Camp ladies know since they made the card, but I thought I would share with all of you too.

You need acetate (overhead sheet), neutral card stock, Black Stazon, Stampin' Write Markers, line art stamp image (I'm using Thoroughly Thankful).

 

Stamp you image with the Black Stazon on the acetate.  Flip the acetate over and color your images with Stampin' Write Markers (the colored side is "up" in my photo).

 

Flip the acetate back onto your neutral card stock and rub where ever you colored.  By rubbing the color into the neutral, you'll get texture (from the air bubbles). 

 

Once you rub your images, your card stock will look like this.  Adhere the acetate to the neutral card stock and then finish your card.

 

I apologize for the picture.  But you can see some of the texture, especially on the bigger pumpkin (kind of looks like the Fossil Technique).

Wonderful You Burnished Watercolor

I decided to flip through my Technique Junkie Newsletters and use a technique that I haven't tried yet.  This one is a pretty easy one, plus I had all the supplies.  I  modified it some (you are suppose to leave white spaces), but I like the result.

 

I sponged with Summer Sun, More Mustard and Ruby Red.  Then I went back and colored the leaves with Pumpkin Pie.  Even though I used Confetti White, I added a little more flecks with the Color Spritzer and Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Markers.

Upsy Daisy Sponge Technique

We made this card at September's Stamp Camp.  It features a technique that was shared at Convention.  Now I didn't attend, but I still get the scoop from all my demo friends!  The layout is cased from a card I received from a fellow stamper, Laura Lipe.

 

To "ink up" this image, we used Sponge Daubers.  First we started with Always Artichoke for the stems.  Then we added Rose Red for the flowers.  Lastly, we gave the tips a little darkening with Elegant Eggplant.  As you can see, the coloring isn't exact, but that's the cool part of the technique!

My picture is dark, but the card base is Elegant Eggplant and then a layer of Always Artichoke that's been stamped with Floral Background.

Tableau of Terror--Reverse Sooting Technique

So yesterday I was talking to Dawnmarie, a stamper who I met at the Expo, and she told me about doing this technique at a club she attends.  I'm fairly certain it's a past Technique Junkies Technique because I remember seeing it before, but I never tried it.  Well after talking to Dawnmarie, I knew immediately that the Tableau of Terror was the perfect set for Reverse Sooting!

 

Isn't that a cool effect??  I am so pleased with the result.  I know you'll want to try this too so here's how to do it.

First, you need Glossy Card Stock.  Cut to desired size and then stamp image with Versamark.  Have a candle already lit--make sure you use a candle that has a longer wick.  It doesn't work as well with a short wick.  Hold your card stock with a tweezers and run the card stock over the flame (image side facing the flame).  Be careful not to let the card stock stay in one place too long--have water near you just in case.  Continue to run the card stock over the flame until you have the desired amount of "soot".  Now take an old cotton rag or t-shirt and rub your card stock.  Your image should be black and the rest of the card stock should be a dark gray.  Now finish your card!

Top Note Bigz Die and Upsy Daisy

I made a mask of the Top Note Bigz Die.  I placed the mask over my Whisper White card stock and sponged with Pacific Point.  I made sure the ink was uneven to give more texture.  Then I sponged just the edges with Night of Navy.  Last, I took the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and traced the mask so that my sponged area had an edge.

Riding Hood Red Gift Card Holder

Woo!  What a great weekend!  I had a booth at the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo and had the opportunity to meet a lot of wonderful stampers!  Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth.  If you missed it this year, be sure to keep it in mind for September 2009.  I plan on having a booth again!
