Happy Friday! Today is Blogger's Challenge (as is every Friday, yeah!). This week our challenge is to make an item for "Gift Giving". I didn't think this would be a challenge because I'm working on things for a couple of upcoming craft shows. Well...of course I had to create something new! Why would I use something already made? LOL!! I guess I like to create, just like you!
First, I cut a strip from my White Decor Element Sheet. If you purchase these sheets (you get 2 size 12" x 24" and they come in White or Chocolate Chip), you can virtually make any Decor Element you want, provided you have the die for it. But, back to my project--I used the Join in the Cheer Decorative Strip, but used only "peace" and "love".
Carefully, I attached each word to my ornament just as you would any other Decor Element.
Then I added ribbon inside the ornament. Last year, I showed this tutorial for a Ribbon Ornament. This is a little variation. I wrapped my ribbon on a wooden dowel and then heated it with my Heat Tool. I've seen other crafters bake the dowels, but I didn't want to take that time.
Here's what the dowel looks like with the ribbon.
I used 2 strips of each ribbon, Riding Hood Red Taffeta and Kiwi Kiss/Vanilla Taffeta. I cut each strip in half before adding it to the ribbon. Then I tied a few pieces to the top of the ornament.
I used the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die to create my matching box. What would I do without my Big Shot?? Isn't it funny how you can't imagine not having something once you have it? If you don't own a Big Shot, you don't know what you are missing!!! But just keep coming back here and I'll show you, LOL!!
Have a great weekend! I'm heading up to my sister's house in Crystal Lake, IL for my Christmas Card Class! I'm looking forward to a fun evening of stamping with my "northern gals"!
Thanks for the visit!

Very cool! I love how you packaged the ornament, too! I didn't think to put ribbon in it. Great job!

Wow, Sheryl...what an awesome project. You've actually given me an idea that I'm going to have to try out! *wink*. I haven't made one of these boxes yet, but it's sure on my list of things to do since I've seen yours! Totally wonderful gift AND project.

Delightful! What a neat idea to put the ribbon inside the glass balls. The matching boxes make these ideal for Christmas Gift Giving, especially if your did one each year - a collection!

What a fun idea for using Decor Elements! And a great packaging idea, too.

Very pretty! - I love how you created a pretty box to package the ornament in. I'm guessing that the ribbon curls when you heat it on the dowel (?) I've never tried making one of these but it looks very festive.

Hey Sheryl...were did you get the numbers for the decor? The ornaments are awesome and I would love to get some home decor to cut some stuff to put on the wall! Thanks for the idea and thanks for the number for me to order this! kt
