Happy Friday! Today is Blogger's Challenge and the theme is "Alter It"! Over the last year or so, I've collected quite a stash of "I can make something really cool with this" items. I was glad to have the opportunity to HAVE to actually use some of my stash, lol!
I picked up several of these cork board frames from Target. My mission--to make it beautiful! Here's what I started with...
Actually, I kind of like the frame as is, but it's not the right theme for me. So here's what I changed it to...
What do you think of my "stain" for the wood? Any guess as to what it is? If you guessed Chocolate Chip Craft Ink, you are right! I took my Chocolate Chip Craft Spot (if you only use Craft Ink for special projects, going with the spots is ideal) and just rubbed it on the wood. I didn't care about "stroke marks". Then I heated it some with my Heat Tool. I took a paper towel next, and rubbed off some of the ink. I heated it a little bit more just to make sure it was dry. Cool, huh?
My focal image is from Dreams du Jour. It's stamped with Black Stazon on Watercolor Paper. I used Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point to color the image. Here's a close up...
My pushpins are actually Build a Brads adhered to everyday tacs. Here's a close up...
You can see that I cut off the "prongs" of the brad and then added my tac. Works like a charm!
The flowers on my pushpins are from Sweet Stems. Again, I stamped with Black Stazon on Watercolor Paper and used the AquaPainter to color them.
The final touch was adding Tangerine Tango Striped Grosgrain to the hooks on the back.
Hope you like my project. Let me know what you think!
Have a great weekend and thanks for the visit!
