Since the Chicago area is expecting a March snow later today, I thought I would warm us up with a "beach" card using a soon to be available stamp set, Just Beachy (Occasions Mini). I made this last night--I had some Stampin' Buddies here and everyone worked on their own projects. As usual, it was a great time! This card got the "two thumbs up" from them so I hope you like it too!
Can you hear and feel the waves lapping at your feet? (OK, me neither, but it was worth a shot, lol!) When I started thinking about this card, I knew I wanted to use Designer Series Paper for the water. I looked through my stash and thought the Flock Together would work perfectly. There is a design on the paper, but I thought it worked well with the wave theme.
Once I had my DSP cut to size, I used my Big Shot and SU! Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate to dry emboss. I thought the swirls of this pattern looked "wavy". Once the paper was embossed, I grabbed my Sanding Block and sanded across the embossed areas. The sanding reveals the inner white area of the DSP. I tore each piece and sponged the top to finish the waves. Here's another view of the waves.
All of the fish are stamped with Black Stazon on Watercolor Paper. I used my AquaPainter and re-inkers to watercolor the fish. Then I cut them out and added them to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The sun is from the Just Beachy set as well. I stamped in on So Saffron card stock with So Saffron ink. Once I cut it out, I sponged it heavily and added it with a Stampin' Dimensional. Lastly, I added the sentiment from Really Retro.
This card was a lot of fun to make. I made it for my upline's April event, but I might just have to make another for me to keep. I'd love to hear what you think!
Thanks for the visit!
