Bird On a Branch Color and Sketch Challenge

I didn't have time on Sunday to play along with the new CPS sketch so today I combined it with the color challenge on SCS.  First, here's the sketch.

 

The colors are Pretty in Pink, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze.   I decided the Bird on a Branch set would be perfect for these colors and then I just worked them into the sketch.

 

I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig to get the branch, flowers and bird all in the right space.  I also masked the bird so it looks like he's sitting on the branch.

I ran the Kiwi Kiss through the Big Shot with the SU! Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate.  Here's a close up.

Just Beachy Sneak Peek!

Here's a sneak peek at one of the stamp sets, Just Beachy, that will be available in the Occasions Mini catalog April 1.  If I am your demo, you will probably receive one in the mail.  If you haven't, I will have the link posted on April 1.  I will also have them available at all of my events.

This stamp set caught my eye because of the beach theme.  We lived 9 years in Tampa, so needless to say, I have many "beach" photos to scrapbook.  And I thought the fish in this set were fun and perfect to pair with 3 little boys (that really aren't so little anymore).

   

I'm fairly certain we've never seen fish quite like these, but aren't they fun?  I think this card will make a great "boy" birthday card.  Look carefully at the background (click on photo).  I ran the Pacific Point through the Big Shot with the SU! Backgrounds Texturz Plate.  Then to give it the look of air bubbles in water, I lightly sanded the raised dots.  In real life you can see it a little better.  My "faux brads" are punched with the Double Circle Punch from Tangerine Tango and a little Crystal Effects added.  My fish are stamped on Watercolor Paper and I used reinkers to watercolor them.

Playful Petals and Circle Scissors Plus

Since we are in our second day of Spring (woo hoo!), I thought I would share another "Springy" card with all of you.  This card features the new stamp set, Playful Petals, and the new Circle Scissors Plus.  The Circle Scissors Plus is even easier to use than the Coluzzle--it cuts out the entire circle for you!  Plus, you have a wider range of circle sizes to choose.  You can cut circles all the way from 1" to 6" and everything in between!

 

My circle is cut on the Tea Party DSP.  I started with my 4" square piece and made sure I placed it in the center of the Glass Mat (you really need one of these to go with the Circle Scissors Plus).  Then I lined up my Circle Scissors Plus and cut the 3" circle.  You can't tell in my photo, but the DSP is adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals so it frames the flower image.

Fifth Avenue Floral Spring Card

Since it's the first day of Spring, I thought I would make another Spring card to share with you.  I used the Sketch Challenge and the Limited Supply Challenge over on SCS to start my card.  The LSC challenge was a flower and soft subtle colors.

 

I've really come to love the Tea Party Designer Series Paper, probably because it is so "springy".  The flower is stamped with Black Stazon on Watercolor Paper.  I used the Marker Watercolor Technique to color my flower.  The colors are Almost Amethyst and So Saffron.

Branch Out Spring Tree

Happy Spring!  Happy Friday!  Today is Bloggers' Challenge and the theme is "Think Spring"! 

My card was inspired by a TV commercial (can't remember which one) that flashed a Monet painting.  Immediately I though of Branch Out because of the "dotted leaves" stamp.  Here's my card and then I'll tell you how I made it.

 

What do you think?  Is it Monet-like?  I think it turned out pretty good even though this is not my usual style.

I stamped the tree first using Sahara Sand.  Then I masked it and masked the "grass".  I used the "dotted leaves" stamp with Bashful Blue to create the sky.  As you can see, I stamped many times and I stamped without inking so that I got a variation of color.  Then I masked the sky area so I could stamp the tree leaves using Almost Amethyst and Pink Pirouette.  Then using the same stamp, I made the grass with Certainly Celery. Lastly, I stamped the butterflies with Lovely Lilac.  The sentiment, from All Holidays, is in Lovely Lilac too.

I hope my card inspires you to be creative on this first day of Spring!

Manhattan Flower and Fifth Avenue Floral

The Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die is now available and you'll want to make sure you put it on your "must have" list (how long is that list now? lol!).  The Manhattan Flower coordinates perfectly with the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set.  What I really like about both is that they are both beautifully elegant, but if you wanted something a little more modern, change the colors and you got it!

I wanted to make a few wedding cards.  These could also be wedding invitations.  Both of them came together really quickly so if you needed to make a lot, you could within a reasonable amount of time.

 

 

This card uses a color combo that I really like:  Elegant Eggplant, Taken with Teal, Perfect Plum and Bordering Blue.  The flowers were stamped in those four colors on Whisper White.  Then I layered a piece of Vellum Card Stock onto the Whisper White.  They are attached under the ribbon so you can't see the adhesive.  These pieces are layered on Bordering Blue with Elegant Eggplant as the card base.

The ribbon is the new White Organdy Ribbon that I lightly dyed with Elegant Eggplant.  Last, I stamped "Mr. & Mrs." from All Holidays.

 

 

This card has a layer of Vellum Card Stock too, but that's the piece I embossed with the Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions Die.  Then I sponged around the flower with Elegant Eggplant.  I made sure I sponged in the same direction so that I got a little bit of shading in the bottom left side of the flower.

The Vellum is layered on Whisper White and then Basic Black.  The card base is Elegant Eggplant.  Again, I lightly dyed White Organdy Ribbon with Elegant Eggplant and stamped "Mr. & Mrs." in Basic Black.

Rustic Rooster

There's an awesome color challenge today on SCS!  The colors are Kraft, Riding Hood Red, Summer Sun and Basic Black is optional. 

 

Wouldn't these colors make a beautiful kitchen too?  That's immediately what I thought of when my card was done.  I'm really happy with it!

I stamped my rooster with Black Stazon and then colored him with Summer Sun Craft Ink.  I added just a little Riding Hood Red ink just to give him a little more color.

What do you think of my brads?  I "hammered" them with my Big Shot.  You can use a hammer too, but when you have a cool tool like the Big Shot, you want to use it in as many ways as possible, right?  The sandwich to use is the Multipurpose Platform (closed), Clear Cutting Pad, brads-open and face down, Clear Cutting Pad.
