Happy Friday Morning! Today is Bloggers' Challenge and the theme is Alter It! The last time we had this challenge, the bigger challenge for me was finding (literally) what I wanted to alter. But a few weeks ago I got a cleaning bug and I organized all of my "alterable" items. Now they are in boxes by name (jars, tins, office, etc). So today it was quite easy to find my candle holder to alter.
My project today really is a two-fer. I altered my candle holder and then I altered one of the components to decorate my candle holder. There's no stamping on my project--it's all made with the Big Shot! Take a look and then read on.
Oooooh! Aren't those colors pretty? They are two of the new In Colors: Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango. These colors, available at noon on July 1st, come in card stock, ink pads, MARKERS (can I have a woo hoo on that?) and Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.
To alter this candle holder, I first wrapped the ribbon around it. The ribbon is not attached to the jar, only itself with Mini Glue Dots. Then I used a 3/4" Circle Punch to build my leaves and flowers. It's much easier to have a card stock base than trying to adhere everything directly to the jar. An added plus, is that I could take it off and switch out my decoration for another season!
Then I added 3 Little Leaves Sizzlits in Dusty Durango. My Daisies #2 is Crushed Curry and sponged on the tips. Now for the altered component...
My button! It was once a Pumpkin Pie Corduroy Button, but now it's Dusty Durango! I pressed the button into my ink pad and it was really dark. So then I wiped it off on a paper towel until I got the color I wanted. It's hard to tell, but the "raised" lines are just a bit darker. Then I used my Heat Tool to set the ink. Pretty cool, huh?
I hope you like my project for the day. I like the idea that I can change out the ribbon and make a decor for each season!
Just another reminder that my Birthday Celebration ends June 30. I'm adding a new 2009/2010 Idea Book and Catalog (unless I've already sent the winner one) to the prize. You can shop here 24/7!
Thanks for the visit!
