August Card Kit Available for Purchase!

I'm redoing a few features of my Stampin' Up! business--card kits will be posted and available for purchase mid month (instead of the beginning).  You have until the end of the month to purchase your card kit.  In September I will have a new Box of Stampin' Supplies (you get product and card ideas).

This month's Card Kit is inspired by the CPS sketch.  I love this sketch as it's great to use all of those small images that we sometimes struggle to use.  With your August Card Kit, you will receive all of the precut card stock, embellishments and envelopes to create 10 cards (no images stamped).  All you do is stamp and assemble!  I will also send you photos of 3 other cards using the exact same supplies, but different images and layouts.  The cost is only $20 (add $4.80 for shipping)!  Here's what your August Card Kit might look like.

Dreams du Jour Butterfly Flower

Good Morning!  I am really happy to share my card with you today.  I wanted to participate in The Fresh Batch sketch so I pulled out my Big Shot and SU! Exclusive Flower Folds Bigz XL Die.  The reason why I'm happy to share is that this card just came together so easily and I really love the results--I hope you do too!

 

I haven't used my Bashful Blue DSP for a long time so I decided it would make the perfect flower.  I knew Whisper White was going to be my background as well, but then I slipped in a piece of Basic Black and I was sold!  It's amazing what a little black can do for a card!

The Whisper White panel was embossed with the Big Shot and the large dots from Texture #1 Plates.  I stamped the butterfly from Dreams du Jour with Black Stazon and colored it with my Bashful Blue Stampin' Write Marker.  It's punched out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch and layered on a Basic Black 1 3/8" Circle Punch.  The final detail is ribbon.  I paired the Bashful Blue Striped Grosgrain with Black Gingham.

The next time your card or project needs a little punch--slip in some Basic Black and see how you like it!

Wood Sheets Top Note Frame

Sorry for the late post, but I had to go into the office today and that cuts into my stamping time, lol!

I have a project featuring the new SU! Wood Sheets.  I really think these are one of the coolest ways to add texture and fun to your papercrafting projects.  Take a look and then read on for how I made my card.

 

I first cut a Wood Sheet to 5 1/4" x 4" and then used my Big Shot to cut out the Top Note Bigz Die.  I matted the frame to Soft Suede and Dusty Durango is my card base.  Then using the smallest daisy on the Daisies #2 Bigz Die, I cut out flowers in Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie.  My leaves are Old Olive Small Oval Punches with a score line down the middle.

I stamped "thinking of you" from Sincere Salutations in Versamark and then Dusty Durango (I know you can't see that color in the photo--it shows more in real life).  Then I used Clear Embossing Powder.

JustRite Christmas Blog Hop!

Good Monday Morning!  Today is the big day for the JustRite Christmas Blog Hop!  I have a card and a box to share with you.  The new JustRite Stampers set that I'm showcasing is called "Merry Little Christmas Borders and Centers".  It's a great set to have on hand for all of your Christmas projects.  Take a look.

 

I love the sentiment on this stamp..."Snowflakes are Winter's butterflies".  I used Taken with Teal and Ruby Red Stampin' Write Markers to color in my image.  I stamped it twice so I could layer the circles.  I used the 1 3/4", 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" Circle Punches.  Then I used my Big Shot and Snowflake #2 Bigz Die in Ruby Red.  Since snowflakes are butterflies, they can be red, lol!

I used Holiday Lounge Designer Series Paper for the background and a Ruby Red card base.  The neutral color in the Holiday Lounge DSP is Sahara Sand, but the Kraft Taffeta Ribbon is a great match.

Here's the box I created.  Last holiday season I made a box similar to this one and provided a tutorial that you can see here.  The only difference (besides paper choices) is that I used the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Windows Movers and Shapers that will be in the new Holiday Mini on September 1.  I used the die to make a "peek a boo" cut out.

 

Here's a better look at the JustRite Stampers stamp. 

 

I used Real Red card stock with the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die and Big Shot.  The box part is constructed with Chocolate Chip card stockI used Merry Moments Designer Series Paper as well.  I stamped the JustRite Stampers on a piece of acetate with Black Stazon.  Then I used Sharpie Markers to color the backside of the image.

The final touch on my box is Chocolate Chip Grosgrain around the entire lid and a bow from the Real Red Polka Dot Ribbon (a must have in the ribbon department!).  You can get a taste of this ribbon and all the new ribbon in my ribbon share!

Totally Tool

I try to incorporate one "masculine" card at each Stamp Camp.  So for August's Stamp Camp, this was one of the choices.

 

I tried to get the feel of a "tool belt" with this card.  It did require a lot of cutting, but well worth it I think.

We stamped the different tools from Totally Tool on Basic Gray and  Real Red (tape measure).  Then we stamped again on More Mustard and cut out the handles and lever on the tape measure.  We paper pieced these pieces.  The tools are all popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Then, Night of Navy Grosgrain completes the belt.  Mini Glue Dots hold the ribbon down in between the tools.

The Creamy Caramel panel is textured with the Big Shot and Texture #4 Plates.  I think this particular texture plate is very masculine looking, although I've seen it used with "girly" projects too!

Lastly, we punched out the sentiment with the Word Window Punch and attached it to a Real Red Large Oval Punch.

Calling All Quilters!

If you are a quilter (or just love quilts like me), I have the perfect SU! Exclusive Bigz Die for you--Lattice!  I just got this new toy so I was excited to play with it a little bit.  I'm going to try to incorporate it into September's Stamp Camp as well.

Here's a few cards to show off the Lattice Bigz Die.

 

What do you think?  Aren't these designs cool?  Here's what I did.

I started off with one sheet of Sahara Sand card stock and cut it in half for my card bases.  Then I took a 4 x 4 of Soft Suede and Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper and centered it on the Lattice Bigz Die.  TIP:  Once you get a piece of card stock centered on a die, mark the corners with a pen so you can use the pen lines as guides for the future.

Save all of the pieces that are cut once you use the die.  TIP:  Try to keep the pieces in the same spot so when you fill in the lattice, it's a lot easier.

I cut down the "outside" of the Thoroughly Modern DSP die to 3 7/8 on one side only so I could layer it onto a 4 x 4 1/8 piece of Soft Suede (left card).  I used the Soft Suede lattice die cut.  Then I filled in the lattice with the pieces of DSP (using both patterns).

For the right card, I simply took the "outside" piece of the Soft Suede die cut and adhered it to my card base.  Then I added the DSP lattice die cut.  For this card, I only filled in the diamond shapes with Soft Suede.  I let the Sahara Sand show through on the oval shapes.

I used the new Soft Suede Polka Dot Grosgrain on each card.  I had to make a small slit on the fold of each card for my ribbon to go through (ribbon shows on the inside).  This ribbon is double sided so if you make a square knot (tie right over left, then left over right), the opposite side shows nicely on the tails of the knot. 

So did you notice there is not stamping on these cards???  That's the beauty of the Big Shot--you can make a gorgeous card with just die cuts and a little ribbon!

On a Pedestal Birthday Cupcake

Good Friday Morning!  It's Bloggers' Challenge day and our theme for this week is "It's Your Birthday".  I wanted to use some bright colors today so I grabbed my package of Pink Flamingo Designer Series Paper and went from there.  My card also fits this week's sketch on SCS.

 

As I said, the dotted paper is from Pink Flamingo DSP.  It's matted to a piece of Real Red card stock and my card base is Tempting Turquoise.

I stamped the pedestal from On a Pedestal on Whisper White card stock using Tempting Turquoise.  Then I used the SU! exclusive Big Bold Cupcakes Sizzlits to make the cupcake.  I stamped the sentiment on the sizzlit piece after I cut it out.  I sponged the edges just to make the white on white stand out.  Pretty simple, huh?  That's what I love about the Big Shot--makes paper crafting a whole lot easier!

JustRite Stampers Mojo Monday

Did you notice the JustRite Stampers Blog Hop badge that I have?  That's right--I'm participating in their Christmas Blog Hop on August 17th!  Make sure you check back and see all of the awesome ideas for your Christmas cards and projects.

To start preparing you for the big day, I thought I would incorporate the JustRite Favorite Occasions set with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.

 

I stamped the JustRite image and border with Black Stazon on SU!'s Watercolor Paper and watercolored it with reinkers and AquaPainter.  The colors I used are Soft Suede, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard, Elegant Eggplant and Ruby Red.  The circles are punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.

I used the "thanks so much" from Sincere Salutations and stamped it on Confetti White with Soft Suede ink.  It's matted on Soft Suede.  I also used Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper (which is what inspired my colors) and matted them on Elegant Eggplant.  I used a piece of 5/8" Very Vanilla Grosgrain to finish my card.

Wood Butterfly

I used my Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die to cut out the "wood" butterfly.  I sponged the butterfly's edges with Crushed Curry.  I scored a rectangle for my butterfly using my Fiskar's Paper Cutter and Bone Folder.  I cut out the size rectangle I wanted, traced it and then scored it.  The tracing is on the back side so it doesn't show.

My sentiment is from Inspired by Nature and stamped using Old Olive.  The final touch is a Horizontal Slot Punch from Old Olive to create the butterfly's body.
