Cottage Wall Ornament

I like to use "non traditional" colors for Christmas sometimes.  I think the colors in Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper definitely qualify for non traditional--yet they work.

My card uses the Zig Zag technique from Technique Junkies.  If you like techniques, you need to subscribe to the TJ Newsletter.  When you sign up, let Pat know I sent you (no kickback for me, just want her to know how much I like her newsletter!).

I cut the striped pattern paper from Cottage Wall DSP to make the Zig Zag.  Then I used the Ornament Punch to make my ornament.  I punched a Rich Razzleberry ornament too for the hanger part.  Then I used the Little Leaf Sizzlit and Big Shot to make my tree bough.  I got this idea from a beautiful swap from Tracy, one of my downline.

I used 2 Way Glue to adhere my Little Leaf Sizzlits.  I like how thin the 2 Way Glue is and how easily it gets all of the edges.  My ornament is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals and adorned with a Elastic Silver Cording bow.

My card stock panels are Orchid Opulence, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive.  "Merry Christmas" is from Many Merry Messages and is stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink.

Another My Digital Studio Single Page

I told you we went apple picking with my family on Sunday.  I wanted to get a good photo for Christmas cards this year--not sure if I'll use one of these or not.  But, I think these are cute so I quickly added them to a VERY simple scrapbook page with My Digital Studio.  I'll print this page individually and then when I get it, I'll probably add some embellishments from my stash. 

But, I love how easy My Digital Studio is--and it will be available to all of you on Thursday, October 1.  Be sure to check back on Thursday--we're going to have a little fun!

I told you it was a super simple page!  I like it though because the photos get to be the focus.  And I like this layout for multiple pictures of the same thing.

Autumn Splendor Challenge

Good Sunday Morning!  My internal alarm clock went off early this morning so I decided to take advantage and do a little stamping.  I wasn't sure I would have time because today is my family's annual "apple picking" day.  It's a really a fun day--one my boys thoroughly enjoy--getting together with their cousins and being just a little "ornery" in the apple orchards. 

But...back to my card.  My card is doing double duty.  I used the CPS sketch for my layout and then my colors come from Our Creative Corner--monochromatic mania.

 

I stamped the leaf from Autumn Splendor with Chocolate Chip Craft ink on Confetti Cream card stock.  Then I embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  I cut out the leaf and sponged just a little with Chocolate Chip ink.  The leaf wasn't popping enough on the DSP so I glued the leaf to Chocolate Chip card stock with 2 Way Glue (I wanted to make sure I got the ends good).  Then eyeballing it, I cut a layer for my leaf.  I think it turned out pretty good.

I used Stampin' Dimensionals to add the leaf to a piece of Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper.  I matted it to Chocolate Chip, then Confetti Cream and then another piece of Chocolate Chip.  My card base is Close to Cocoa.  The finishing touch is "thanks" from Fundamental Phrases.

Pop Up Graveyard Kits Available!

Pop Up Three Tier Graveyard

Good Friday Morning!  You know what Friday means--Bloggers' Challenge!  This week our challenge is to use Designer Series Paper.  Well, if you follow my blog, you know that this really isn't a challenge for me.  I love SU!'s DSP and use it quite often! 

So, I'm still using DSP, but I will admit, I didn't use as much as I thought I would.  I think the focus kind of turned to my embellishments, but the Cast a Spell Designer Series Paper is perfect for a graveyard!

Here's the outside...

 

Can you tell I love using our Rhinestone Brads as gems?  The main panel for my card is Cast a Spell DSP.  I stamped the skull from "From the Crypt" with Basic Black and added Clear Circle Rhinestones for some sparkly spooky eyeballs.

To make my "pop up graveyard", I used my Big Shot and the Pop Up Three Tier Cake Bigz Die.  I used Basic Gray card stock for the base and Cast a Spell DSP for the trimming.  My tombstones are made with the Small Tag Punch and sponged with Whisper White Craft Ink.  I used my Basic Black Marker to make "cracks".  Happy Halloween is from All Holidays.  Remember to stamp first, then punch.  Spiders from "From the Crypt" are stamped and cut out.  The skulls are from Cast a Spell DSP--just find one to cut out.

Originally I had a couple of tombstones on the lower part of the card, but Dalton, my 15 year old, told me that he "didn't really like those and you should have caskets with the skull coming out".  Duh!  Why didn't I think of that??  So I went back to my stamp room and cut strips of Basic Black and Basic Gray to 1 1/8" so that they fit inside the Small Tag Punch.  This way you can make a longer Tag Punch.  I did just trim a little on the sides to give it a "casket" shape.  I added a spider and skull and thought it looked much better!

My Digital Studio

I have a quick post for you today to show you a couple of pages from the scrapbook I'm working on.   This is a double page layout.  The finished book size will be 8 x 8.

 

These pages are from a book I'm creating about our Idaho trip in 2000. I'm using one of the provided layouts, but I can change photo size, embellishments, etc to suit my needs. 

My Digital Studio is truly one of the coolest things I've come across.  If I didn't play around so much with each page, I'd have 10 books done by now!

Crushed Black Razzleberries Layered Button Sketch

How's that for a title, LOL?  But, it says it all--my card is doing triple duty!  First, I'm doing the Color Challenge on SCS using Crushed Curry, Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry.  Then, I have a Layered Button which is the Technique Lovers Challenge on SCS.  Finally, my card follows the Mojo Monday sketch.

As you can see, the only colors are the challenge colors:  Crushed Curry, Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry.  The only stamping is "thanks" from Fundamental Phrases (a must have word set).

To make my flower, I used the Flower Folds Bigz XL Die and my Big Shot.  I only used the smaller 2 flowers and only folded the top one.  Below the flower I have 5/8" Basic Black Grosgrain and 3 layers of Scallop Edges in Basic Black and Rich Razzleberry.  The Crushed Curry dots are leftovers from my buttons.

Here's a close up of the "button" to show the dimension.  I made 5 Crushed Curry buttons with my Big Shot and Buttons #5 Sizzlit.  On SCS, they show how you can use any circle punch and create your own buttons.  Just use 5 punches and make the button holes with your Crop-a-Dile.

Once I layered my 5 buttons using Anywhere Glue Sticks, I added a layer of Crystal Effects to give it the button shine.

So other than the drying time for the Crystal Effects, this is a pretty quick card to make.  Hope you like it!

Delightful Decorations CPS Sketch

The new CPS sketch is up so I used that as my inspiration for my card today.  Take a look and then be sure to read on to see what I did.

I stamped the ornament image from the Holiday Mini Delightful Decorations stamp set with Real Red ink on Whisper White card stock.  I used the Ornament Punch to punch it out.  Then I punched two more ornaments from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP (Holiday Mini).  All three ornaments are layered on a Real Red ornament made with the Big Shot and the Movers and Shapers Holiday Windows.

The sketch has a smaller panel on the card base.  I went with that idea, but instead of a separate panel, I used my Fiskar's Paper Cutter and Scorer to create an embossed panel out of the Christmas Cocoa Specialty DSP.  Here's a close up to see it a little better.

 

 

Can you see the embossed panel?  Trust me, it's there, lol!  I finished the card with Gold Elastic Cording to hang the ornaments and a Real Red matte and Soft Suede card base.

Pretty Pink Patterned Pines

OK, your challenge is to say my title 3 times fast, lol!  I'm doubling up the Our Creative Corner challenge, which is to use chocolate, hot pink and light pink, and the Stamps and Smiles sketch challenge.

I decided to go "out of the box" and use these colors for a Christmas card.  However, I didn't put a greeting on the outside of my card, so I could use this as a thank you for the holidays as well.  Take a look.

Back to my card...I first used Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker to color the middle tree.  I stamped it on Whisper White.  Then I masked it.  Using Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write Marker and my Stamp-a-ma-Jig, I stamped the other two trees in the background.  I used the Circle Scissors Plus to cut my 3" circle.  The Chocolate Chip circle is made with my Big Shot and Scallops #2 Bigz Die. 

I added a little bling to the trees with Fire and Clear Circle Rhinestones.  If you missed my Mid Month Tip in my last newsletter, sign up today and I'll forward it to you.  It shows how I made the rhinestones into gems. 

On my Pretty in Pink panel, I stamped the snowflake from Patterned Pines with Pretty in Pink ink.  I used it full strength and half strength.  My ribbon is Chocolate Chip Grosgrain and Melon Mambo Polka Dot Grosgrain.  I did the lines of paper piercing with the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack (love that SU! offers the Paper Piercer on it own!).
