I took a look at the challenges for the week on The Fresh Batch and Our Creative Corner. I combined the two for my card today. The sketch is from The Fresh Batch. The challenge on Our Creative Corner is "masculine valentine". Now that's an awesome challenge!
Originally I was going to use stars for my card because I thought that would work for masculine. Then I remembered the sentinment in Owl Together Now and went with that. I stamped the owl and limb from Owl Together Now with Black Stazon on Watercolor Paper. I used Stampin' Write Markers and my AquaPainter to watercolor. To get the owl placed just right, I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig. Then I punched hearts with the Heart to Heart Punch. It's hard to tell, but I sponged the edges of the hearts with Real Red ink. My Chocolate Chip piece is decorated on the bottom with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch from the Occasions Mini. I used Natural Hemp--thought that was more masculine than ribbon. Lastly, did you see the owl's eyes? They are little hearts created with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch. He has love in his eyes, lol! I handwrote "me" with my Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker.

Today's Bloggers' Challenge is to use red, black and white. I love these colors together! When I got my Beautiful Wings Embosslit yesterday, I just knew I had to use it for this challenge.
The new Beautiful Wings Embosslit from the Occasions Mini creates 4 different sized butterflies and they all have some kind of embossing. It's a must have (of course!). I chose the 2nd smallest butterfly for my line of butterflies. Here's a close up.
I used "unique" from Define Your Life for my sentiment. I punched it out with the Wide Oval Punch and then added the smallest butterfly from the embosslit. A little Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain finishes my card.

Last week I taught a class at the Plainfield Library (another one is scheduled for March 13). This is one of the cards we made.
This is a pretty quick card to make. The tree from Season of Friendship is stamped with Close to Cocoa. The leaves are Old Olive. We stamped the leaves twice before re-inking. The sentiment is stamped with Chocolate Chip. The Real Red hearts are the small heart from the Heart to Heart Punch. The card stock colors are Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla.
We used the Anywhere Glue Sticks to adhere the hearts. I find the easiest way to do this is to add the glue to the card and then put the hearts in place. To handle the hearts easily (they are hard to pick up), I barely touch the Anywhere Glue Stick with my finger. Enough glue is there to easily pick up the heart and then add to the card. Today is Jackson's birthday--12 years old. I can't believe my baby is 12!!!
In this baby photo he's about 4 months old. And here he is today before leaving for school (sorry about the terrible quality of the photo).
Here's his birthday card. I love these "extreme" stamps--they are soooo perfect for boy birthday cards.
I like a monochromatic card for masculine cards too. I started with a Kraft card base. My first layer is Chocolate Chip. Then I used Close to Cocoa ink to stamp the Extreme Elements (stars are stamped off first). My Extreme Dirt Bike and happy birthday (All Holidays) are stamped in Black Stazon. I added a matte of Basic Black card stock to the sentiment just to make it pop.
I think Jackson will like it and I hope you do too.

My card today uses this week's Mojo Sketch. I rotated the sketch and replaced the circle with my Sweet Pea Stitched Felt flower.
I plan on using this card for my Mom's birthday which is this Saturday. My card features quite a few Occasions Mini products: Sweet Pea Designer Series Pack, Well Scripted stamp set, Sweet Pea Stitch Felt, and Sending Love Epoxy Brads. The cool border punch is one I got FREE (and you can too) with Sale-a-Bration; it's called Scallop Trim Border. It's hard to see, but the Old Olive card stock is dry embossed with the Big Shot and Background #1 Texture Plate (flourish). A touch of Rose Red Grosgrain finishes my card.

My Mom came to my house this weekend to help me with a MAJOR project. Well, we didn't think it would be so major, but it turned out to be. We recovered a chair. My Mom is awesome when it comes to anything sewing so the great result is due mostly to her talent. My boys and nephew helped too--they helped rip off some of the old material and take out staples. A great family project!
What do you think? I saw this material and just fell in love with it. I'm so thrilled with my "new" chair (which is really at least 40 years old). I wish I would have taken "before" photos--you would really be impressed. Now to think about the couch...
