Bloggers' Challenge: Ribbon and Lace

Today's card is for Bloggers' Challenge, which the theme is "Ribbon and Lace".  I don't have any lace on my card, but I have ribbon--can you handle another Taffeta Ribbon Flower?  I love the look of these flowers!

 

My flower is has a little twist to it--I used two different color ribbons.  The concept is the same, just alternate the rounds with the different colored ribbon.  I used Pretty in Pink and Rich Razzleberry Taffeta.  I like the look--kind of Springy.

Spring is Blossoming--Four Frames

My card today uses Four Frames, which is only available until April 30.  After that, you have to wait until the new catalog.  With a $20 order, you can purchase Four Frames and Paisley Petals DSP.  Click here for all of the information.

My card uses the color combo from Inkspirations and the sketch on Clean and Simple.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the frame from Four Frames.  Then I used the Decorative Label Punch from the Occasions Mini to punch it out.  I used the punch again with Sahara Sand and cut it in half to make my layer.

Strength and Hope--Sneak Peek

In May, the Summer Mini Catalog will be available.  One of the stamp sets in the mini is Strength and Hope.  Besides being a beautiful stamp set, when you purchase it, Stampin' Up! will donate $2 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  Even though October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I think this promotion in the month dedicated to Moms is a beautiful idea.  I'll have more information in May when the set is available. 

But for now, my card uses the color combo on CR84FN and the sketch on Get Sketchy. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I love the softness of these colors, which is why I chose to use Strength and Hope.

 
 

My "aqua" is Baja Breeze and "light blue" is Bashful Blue.  I used the Rock and Roll technique to stamp my butterfly.  I first inked it with Bashful Blue and then rolled the edges in Baja Breeze.  On the taller panel, I stamped the words from the set, alternating between Bashful Blue and Baja Breeze.  Then the third panel has the flourish from the set stamped with Bashful Blue and the "H" stamped with Baja Breeze.  My butterfly atennae are the little stamen from the Pretties Kit.

I'm quite happy with this card--probably because I think the stamp set is so pretty.  We'll definitely use in at May's stamp camp.

Elements of Style Color Throwdown

Masculine Birthday Card

Today is my brother's birthday.  Happy Birthday, Dennis!  The card I made for him has very little stamping.  I used the sketch from Paper Players and the color combo on Just Us Girls.  There's a twist on the color combo--it has to be a birthday card. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I used Marina Mist for the aqua and Peach Parfait for the coral.  With the simplicity of this card, I think it looks masculine.  I switched out the scallop border for diamonds--again, more masculine.  I think my brother will like it.

Clean and Simple

A few weeks ago when I got together with some of my stamping buddies.  It's a very quick and easy card--one that can be whipped out in 10 minutes or less.

 

I guess part of why it's so quick is that there's no stamping!  I used the Blossom Petals Punch to create my flower and the center is a Basic Rhinestone Jewel.  What do you think?  Too simple?

Easel Thank You Boxes

Good Morning!  Today I'm sharing a gift idea.  I haven't talked too much about what I do for a living--I'm a Lead in a Cancer Registry at a local hospital.  Most people have never heard of a Cancer Registry (I didn't until I worked in one).  We report cancer cases to the state and a national data base--that's how cancer statistics are known.  So why am I telling you this?  Well, this week is National Cancer Registry Week.  My gifts are for the three ladies that work in my office.

 

I used my own tutorial on No Adhesive Box and just changed the dimensions to fit my needs.  I wanted a box large enough to fit a gift card and a few chocolates.  I will share the dimensions I used later in the week--have to make them legible first, lol!

Once I had the box, I made the sleeve.  Then I created the Easel part--I got the basic directions off Splitcoast, but I'm not 100% sure I did it the same way.  But it works and that's all that matters, right?

I used a stamp set, Tropical Party, and matching DSP that was available in last year's Summer Mini.  I cut some flowers from the DSP and the Tempting Turquoise flowers are stamped on the DSP.  The leaves are from the Two Step Bird Punch.  I added a decorative Paper Clip and Pumpkin Pie Taffeta.  Using the paper clip will allow them to easily pull off the monthly calendar as well as add next year's.

The sentiment was printed on the computer.  A few Flower Brads and an additional flower with brad finish off the project.

Triple Taffeta Flower

I took some time to stamp this morning--after checking out the sketch on CPS and colors on CR8T4FN.

When I saw the sketch, my first thought was butterflies for the three small squares.  But then when I saw the beautiful color combo, I knew I had to make some Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon flowers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here's what happened:

 

This was definitely NOT a quick and easy flower--mainly because I changed it up so many times, lol!  Finally I decided to use Bella Toile on the one Very Vanilla panel and I added just a touch of color with my Pretty in Pink Sponge Dauber.  The embossed Very Vanilla rectangles have a touch of color too.  Once I cut out the bird for Elements of Style, I sponged the edges just to give it a little more depth.

Mother of Pearl Meets Masculine

So I have 4 of my 5 cards done for Stamp Camp.  I try to have one "masculine" card each time, but then I remembered I wanted to show my campers the Mother of Pearl technique.  What to do?  Make a masculine Mother of Pearl card!  I think it works and I hope my campers like it too.  Remember registration ends April 11--for attending and kits--sign up here.

It's hard to see in the photo, but the Tangerine Tango strip is actually Faux Suede.  I think we've done this at camp before, but I wanted some different textures to add to the masculine feel.
