Bloggers' Challenge Embrace Life

Yeah, it's Friday!  That means it's Bloggers' Challenge.  This week's challenge is to CASE (copy and share everything) a fellow Bloggers' Challenge member.  Let me tell you, deciding who to CASE and then which project to CASE was no easy task!  I decided to use Lisa B's layout from this card.  I changed the colors and stamp sets and then when I was done, I realized I left out the Designer Series Paper panel too.  Oops--I had already stamped my leaves so it was too late.  But Lisa's card was still my inspiration!

Embracelifescallop

What pulled me to this card is the stamping on the Scallop Circle Die (cut out with the Big Shot) and the actual card.  I think that is a very cool effect.  Once I stamped the leaves from Embrace Life, I colored them with my Certainly Celery Marker.  Then I stamped the flowers on Whisper White card stock and cut them out.  I used a Sponge Dauber to sponge the edges with Almost Amethyst ink on the edges and just a touch of So Saffron in the middle.  The flowers are popped out with Stampin' Dimensionals.  My card is finished with a piece of So Saffron Striped Grosgrain.

This weekend is Stamp Camp so I'm looking forward to stamping with all my "campers".  I'll share a few of the projects this weekend so be sure to check back.

Thanks for the visit!

Red, White and Blue and Cheers to You!

I have two cards to share with you.  First is Bloggers' Challenge and the current Stamps and Smiles sketch.  With this being 4th of July weekend, the Bloggers' Challenge theme is red, white and blue.  I used those colors, but instead of a 4th of July card, I made a card for a friend.

Sasfriendsketch

Can you see the embossing on the Whisper White and Night of Navy panels?  It's the diamond pattern from Texture Plates #1.  I also used the Big Shot with the Daisies Die #2.  The centers of my daisies are 1/2" Circles from Night of Navy and Fire Circle Rhinestones.  I used the Real Red and Night of Navy markers on my sentiment from All Holidays.

My second card follows the sketch on Our Creative Corner and uses the SCS Color Challenge, which is Kraft, So Saffron and Night of Navy.  I think this card is related to what some of us might be doing at parties this weekend!

Occcheerssketch

I stamped my beer mugs from Cheers to You on a piece of Kraft card stock with Basic Black.  I also stamped the mughs on Whisper White and So Saffron card stock.  Then I paper pieced so it looks like I have a mug of So Saffron beer with a Whisper White frothy top, lol!  I stamped my sentiment with Night of Navy ink and punched it out with the Large Oval Punch.  Then I layered it on a Night of Navy Scallop Oval Punch.  Lastly, I added some Night of Navy Grosgrain on the So Saffron panel.

"Cheers" to all of you on this 4th of July weekend.  I hope you have a fun and safe holiday.  But, be sure to check back over the weekend.  I'll have projects to share.

Thanks for the visit!

Bloggers' Challenge--Alter It!

Happy Friday Morning!  Today is Bloggers' Challenge and the theme is Alter It!  The last time we had this challenge, the bigger challenge for me was finding (literally) what I wanted to alter.  But a few weeks ago I got a cleaning bug and I organized all of my "alterable" items.  Now they are in boxes by name (jars, tins, office, etc).  So today it was quite easy to find my candle holder to alter.

My project today really is a two-fer.  I altered my candle holder and then I altered one of the components to decorate my candle holder.  There's no stamping on my project--it's all made with the Big Shot!  Take a look and then read on.

Alteredjar

Oooooh!  Aren't those colors pretty?  They are two of the new In Colors:  Crushed Curry and Dusty Durango.  These colors, available at noon on July 1st, come in card stock, ink pads, MARKERS (can I have a woo hoo on that?) and Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.

To alter this candle holder, I first wrapped the ribbon around it.  The ribbon is not attached to the jar, only itself with Mini Glue Dots.  Then I used a 3/4" Circle Punch to build my leaves and flowers.  It's much easier to have a card stock base than trying to adhere everything directly to the jar.  An added plus, is that I could take it off and switch out my decoration for another season!

Then I added 3 Little Leaves Sizzlits in Dusty Durango.  My Daisies #2 is Crushed Curry and sponged on the tips.  Now for the altered component...

Alteredjarcloseup

My button!  It was once a Pumpkin Pie Corduroy Button, but now it's Dusty Durango!  I pressed the button into my ink pad and it was really dark.  So then I wiped it off on a paper towel until I got the color I wanted.  It's hard to tell, but the "raised" lines are just a bit darker.  Then I used my Heat Tool to set the ink.  Pretty cool, huh?

I hope you like my project for the day.  I like the idea that I can change out the ribbon and make a decor for each season!

Just another reminder that my Birthday Celebration ends June 30.  I'm adding a new 2009/2010 Idea Book and Catalog (unless I've already sent the winner one) to the prize.  You can shop here 24/7!

Thanks for the visit!

Totally Tool Father's Day Card

Happy Friday!  Today's Blogger's Challenge theme is "masculine".  I just received the stamp set, Totally Tool (another one I earned FREE being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator).  Even if you don't have a "handyman" in the house, this stamp set is great for masculine cards.  My card is for my boys to give to their Dad for Father's Day.

Dadtools

Isn't that fun?  To complete my "D's", I traced around the little container that brads come in.  Then I used a ruler to complete the "A".  And to give it a final "manly" look, I hammered the brads.  Here's a closeup.

Have a great day!  I'll have ideas to share over the weekend too so be sure to check back!

Forest Friends Bloggers Challenge

BC103sketch Happy Friday!  Today is Bloggers' Challenge and it's a sketch.  I like my end result, but I will tell you that this particular sketch was a challenge for me.  I enjoy having a starting point and then making it work for me.

Bc103thankyou

My card uses the Occasions Mini, Forest Friends, and the soon to be retired, Seeing Spots.  I inked up the tree in Certainly Celery then I used the Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker to ink up the brances.  This is much easier than using the Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Marker on each leaf.  My little "Thumper" is stamped with Chocolate Chip, but I stamped it off on scrap first.  He's cut out and added with a Stampin' Dimensional.  I used the Eyelet Border Punch to add some interest to the background layers.  And lastly, a Baja Breeze Corduroy Button finishes off my Thank You circle.

Can you believe there's only 18 days of June left?  That means only 18 days to purchase from the Occasions Mini and any Last Chance items.  Remember, you can earn FREE stuff with my Birthday Celebration.  But it all ends June 30 so go to my Online Ordering Site and don't miss out!

Fifth Avenue Floral--Blogger's Challenge

Sorry I'm posting so late tonight.  Tomorrow is Dalton's graduation party and I've been busy getting ready for that.  But, it's Friday which means Blogger's Challenge.  I'm cheating just a bit as I had this card made last month for my May Box of Stampin' Supplies, but I haven't posted it yet.  The theme is "summer".  That's a pretty broad theme, don't you think?  So while my colors may not scream "summer", my focal image is the rose from Fifth Avenue Floral, which is definitely summer to me.

Mayboss3

I used the Paper Tole technique for this card.  The rose is cut into 3 different layers and I sponged each layer.  The Designer Series Paper is Urban Oasis (which is retiring).  I just cut it out so I had the leaves fro my rose.  The Baja Breeze Corduroy button is from the Occasions Mini.

Card Details:

Stamp Sets:  Fifth Avenue Floral, All Holidays

Inks:  Basic Gray, Baja Breeze

Card Stock:  Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Urban Oasis DSP

Accessories:  Baja Breeze Corduroy Buttons, Sponge Daubers, Stampin' Dimensionals

Bulldog Grad

Happy Friday!  It's Bloggers' Challenge and the theme for this week is graduation.  My oldest is graduating from 8th grade on Monday so I need a card for him.  His school mascot is the Bulldog.  I don't have a bulldog stamp so I went to the shool website and printed out a photo of the mascot.

I hope you like my card as much as I do.  Now I know the bulldog doesn't really go with the more elegant style card base, but that's what I think is so funny.  I know Dalton is going to like it!

Bulldoggrad

OK, tell me you didn't laugh just a little!  LOL!  I'm not much of an animal person, but this doggy is cute!

Originally I was going to use a texture plate on the Whisper White, but I wanted to incorporate Silver Brads (green, silver and black are the school colors) so I just scored a line 1/2" from each edge.   The top and bottom score lines are hard to see, but doing this gave me the perfect "spot" for each brad.

Card Details:

Stamp Sets:  Sock Monkey Accessories, Hugs and Wishes

Ink:  Basic Black

Card Stock:  Garden Green, Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories:  Silver Brads, Stampin' Dimensionals

Have a great weekend and thanks for the visit!

Bloggers' Challenge--Patriotic

Good Friday Morning!  Today's Bloggers' Challenge is a Patriotic theme since it's the start of Memorial Day Weekend.  I'm using this card for a few other challenges as well.  The sketch is from this week's SCS challenge.  The colors are for Fun Frilled's theme: red, white and blue!  Triple duty--gotta love it!

I picked up this JessicaLynn Original stamp not too long ago--I just couldn't resist the owl dressed up as a daisy!  For my "firework" background, I used the flower image from Stampin' Up's Good Friend.

Patrioticowl

Isn't he a cute patriotic owl?  I paper pieced the daisy using Good Morning Sunshine DSP and Riding Hood Red DSP.  The rest of the owl is colored with Stampin' Write Markers.  My flag is actually clip art that I printed and cut out (I don't have a flag stamp so I cheated--I mean I was creative, lol!).

I know it's a holiday weekend, but be sure to check back.  I'll have new projects to share with you!

Thanks for the visit!

Curly Label Punch Box Goes Manhattan

Happy Friday!  Friday means Bloggers' Challenge!  This week we had to pick one of our own cards that we made in the past and change 2 elements to make a new card.

But before I continue with my cards, we have a winner from yesterday.  The number picked was 3 so Carol G, you are the winner!  I'll send yesterday's card out right away!  Continue to read for today's chance to win!

Back to my card...I chose a Stamp Camp card that we made last December for my layout.  I changed the colors and stamp set.  Here's the "old" card.

Happynewyear

Following the same layout, here is my "new" card.

Curlylabelurbanoasis

I used the Urban Oasis Designer Series Paper (which is part of the "Manhattan" collection) for both panels.  On the smaller panel, I just cut the DSP so that the silhouettes of the flowers would be in the focal area.  I stamped the "thank you" from the Curly Label Punch Box on Kraft card stock and hand cut it out.  That way I could punch the Curly Label from Basic Black and have the perfect layer.  The butterflies, stamped with Baja Breeze and Kiwi Kiss on Kraft, are from Dreams du Jour.

To win this card (just the 2nd one), just a leave a comment (a nice one, lol!) and your name will be in the running (U.S. residents only, please).  I'll announce a winner tomorrow and have another card to give away.

One more important item...I FINALLY have my Pop Up Card Class designed and ready to show.  Check back a little later today and I'll have all 4 projects to show you.  Remember card kits will be available.  I even have a little deal for you!

Card Details:

Stamp Sets:  Curly Label, Dreams du Jour

Inks:  Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss

Card Stock:  Kraft, Basic Black, Urban Oasis DSP

Accessories:  Curly Label Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals

Thanks for the visit!  Be sure to check back later!

Urbangardenmom

You can't tell in the photo, but the flower is actually stamped a second time on Watercolor Paper and popped out with Stampin' Dimensionals.  My sentiment is printed from the computer on Whisper White card stock.  I love the colors of the Urban Garden DSP.

Remember, if you love SU!'s paper and textured card stock as much as I do (I know you do!), now is the time to stock up.  When you buy 3 packs of Designer Series Paper or 12x12 Textured Card Stock, you get one FREE!  There's no limit on the number of FREE packets you can earn (as long as you purchase the 3 for each FREE one).  You can shop right now on my Online Ordering Website.
