Stamping With Sheryl

Christmas in July!

It's Friday and that means Bloggers' Challenge!  Our theme this week is Christmas in July.  Since I just got some of the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper, I knew I had to use it.  My card is doing triple duty too.  Not only is it Bloggers' Challenge, but it follows the sketch on The Fresh Batch and the theme on Our Creative Corner (use 3 embellishments--I used ribbon, buttons and hodgepodge hardware).

 

It's kind of a busy card, but I really like how it turned out. 

First I stamped the tree from Season of Friendship (I'm so glad SU! kept this stamp set) in Old Olive.  Then I stamped the bird in Real Red and the snowflakes in Garden Green and Chocolate Chip.  I covered the bird with Crystal Effects.

I used a piece of the Merry Moments DSP for the main panel (matted with Chocolate Chip and on a  Real Red card base).  The ribbon is the new 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain.  This ribbon is super easy to work with even though it's wide.  I added a few buttons from Playground Buttons and Button Latte.  Then I stamped "be merry" from Warm Words, punched it out with the Designer Label Punch and framed it with a piece of Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge (on sale this week).

My card today showcases the label hardware and brads from the Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge.  What a great way to really make your sentiment (or an image) pop! 

For this card, I used the flourish and starburst from Baroque Motifs.  I stamped the flourish with Basic Gray on a piece of Nouveau Chic DSP.  This is  BEAUTIFUL paper!  The colors are so elegant!  (You can still join my DSP share, click here).  The starbursts are stamped in Sage Shadow and have a Basic Black center.  I layered my DSP onto Basic Gray and then the card base is Sage Shadow.

This was a super easy card to make, but I love it!  I hope you do too (feel free to let me know what you think!).

So I have two sketch challenges to show you today.  Of course, they both showcase the Square Fire Rhinestone Brads!

 

The first card is for the Stamps and Smiles Fresh Batch Challenge.  This is a sketch that I see myself using again--quick and easy!

 

The colors from Pink Flamingo DSP are so fun for summer!  They are bright and cheery!   I used Sweet Stems and stamped them on Whisper White with Basic Black ink.  I used Tempting Turquoise, Real Red and Summer Sun markers to color the flowers.  Then I used the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches to make my circles.  I used 3 of the "yellow" Square Fire Rhinestone Brads on top of the 5/8" Real Red Grosgrain.  My last step was to stamp "thanks" from Fundamental Phrases.

My second card is for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  And I just HAD to use some more of the gorgeous Cottage Wall DSP and the colors that coordinate with it!  (Sandy--you really do NEED this paper, lol!)

 

My card base is Old Olive.  The next panel is Rich Razzleberry that I ran through the Big Shot with the Texture #1 plates.  I stamped the flourish and starburst from Baroque Motifs using Old Olive and Orchid Opulence.  The polka dot panel is one of the patterns from Cottage Wall DSP.  The "for you" is from Fundamental Phrases.  The finishing touches were some Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon and a Square Fire Rhinestone Brad.  I wrapped the brad around the knot in the ribbon (I used two pieces of ribbon).

Revival of Orchid Opulence

With the new Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper, Orchid Opulence is making a come back!  LOL!  I only say that because Orchid Opulence is a color that I really don't use too often.  But...that's going to change!  Isn't this paper gorgeous?  The other colors are Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive.

My card for this morning also follows the CPS sketch for the week. 

 

I didn't do a lot of stamping...I let the DSP do the work.  The Orchid Opulence panel is stamped with the leafy image from Fresh Cuts.  I also used "for you" from Fresh Cuts.  My ribbon is Mellow Moss Taffeta (it works well with the Cottage Wall DSP) and Whisper White Taffeta that I dyed Orchid Opulence.  I used the 5 Petal Punch and a small Old Olive Bloom Die Cut to make the flower.  The finishing touch is a pearl from the Pretties Kit.

My card is serving double duty--it's a Stamp Camp card for this weekend and it's for the weekly sketch on SCS.  My colors come from the brand new Autumn Trafitions DSP.  I know it's only July, but this card would make a great masculine thank you card at any time of the year, not just Autumn!

Today is the LAST Day of the Spring Summer Catalog!!

Can you believe it?  Tomorrow is July 1st so at noon, you can start to order from the brand new 2009/2010 catalog.  That also means today is the LAST day to order any retiring stamp sets/accessories on my Online Ordering Website.  It's also the LAST day to participate in my Birthday Celebration!

 

Can you tell I really like the Wonderful You stamp set?  It's really one that gives you a lot of versatility in the techniques you may choose.  For this card, I stamped the flower in Basic Black on Real Red card stock.  I cut out the flowers and sponged the edges with Real Red ink.  A Silver Brad and white dots with the uniball Signo Gel Pen finish the flowers.  I also used the Walk in the Park Designer Series Paper, which retires today as well.

A few other items ending are the Occasions Mini and the Big Shot Starter Edition Kit.  A few of the stamp sets from the mini will be available in the new catalog, but don't wait and miss out.  The Big Shot Starter Edition Kit components will be available, but NOT as a kit.  Read all about it right here.

Depth of Field Butterfly

I decided to try my hand at the new technique, Depth of Field, from the most recent Technique Junkies Newsletter.  Take a look...

 

I used the butterfly from Dream du Jours for my background.  I think the next time I will stamp off the Basic Gray butterflies.  Mine are a little dark, but I'm still happy with the results.

Do you see a new color?  It's one of the upcoming new In Colors called Melon Mambo.  It's a delicious color!  Once I stamped my background, I added some of the Melon Mambo Polka Dot Grosgrain to the two corners.  I stamped two butterflies, cut them out and then added Crystal Effects to make them shiny.

Riding Hood Red Rose

My card is all my own today--no color or sketch challenges to follow!  I love Riding Hood Red with Chocolate Chip.  And I love the Baroque Motif flourish with the rose from Fifth Avenue Floral.  So I put all of them together and came up with this.

 

Can I just say that when I'm looking at the photo as I'm taking it, it is NOT crooked.  I think I need to take a class, lol!

Any who, back to my card.  My rose is stamped 3 times with Chocolate Chip ink on Riding Hood Red card stock.  I cut it out each time cutting off some of the rose so that I created a Paper Tole rose.  Before assembling it, I sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.  Then I added some uniball Signo White Gel Pen dots.  Here's a close up of the rose to show the layers.

 

My card needed something in the upper right corner.  It took me a while to figure out what.  I decided on some Chocolate Chip Word Window Punches with Whisper White Jumbo Brads.

Autumn Days and In Colors Sneak Peek

Every Sunday I'm inspired by the awesome sketches on CPS (just one of the many sites that I go to for sketches).  I really like this week's sketch.  I decided to use my brand new soon to be available Autumn Days stamp set and a few of the new In Colors.

 

I really like this stamp set.  It's going to be great for masculine cards too.  The card base is the new Dusty Durango.  Then I have a layer of Soft Suede that I stamped with the Sanded Background in Soft Suede ink.  The next horizontal layer is Crushed Curry and a piece of Dusty Durango Polka Dot Ribbon (sign up for my newsletter and be one of the first to sign up for my product share, which will include the new ribbons, and get a free gift from me!).

For my larger focal point, I stamped the long leaf image with Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry.  I sponged the piece with both colors as well.  It's layered on a piece of Dusty Durango.  My smaller focal point is stamped with the wheat image in Soft Suede and Crushed Curry.  Again, I sponged with both colors and layered onto Dusty Durango. 

Then to finish my card, I stamped the pheasant with Soft Suede and cut him out.  He's popped out with a Stampin' Dimensional  I really like this finishing touch.
