Sales Tax Holiday!!!

Good news!  The state of Illinois is having a sales tax holiday from August 6-15!  On selected items, you pay only 5% sales tax.  That means if you normally pay the whopping 10% sales tax, on these items only, you would pay 5%.  If you normally pay 8%, you would pay 3% sales tax.  Here are the items that qualify for this discount!

Itty Bitty Bits

Here's another Stamp Camp card.  The card features the Summer Mini set, Itty Bitty Bits and the Itty Bitty Shapes punches.  The layout is from the Summer Mini as well.

The colors for my card were inspired by the Designer Flower Brads:  Pretty in Pink, So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie (you also get Chocolate Chip).  Right now, you can get these brads FREE!!

We stamped the Itty Bitty Bits on Whisper White card stock in the three colors, then punched them out with the coordinating punches.  Next, they are layered on 1/2" Circle Punches.

Trendy Trees

We made this card at Stamp Camp on Friday.  I chose this set because it's one you can get for 20% off during the month of April only!  To see all the details of the Two Step into Spring special, click here.

To make this card, I first used the Cutter Took Kit on a piece of scrap paper to make the guide for the grass and sky.  Then we did a type of Polished Stone technique to create each.  We used a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol with 3 drops of re inker (Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and Bordering Blue) to create the background.  Usually Polished Stone has a silver or gold reinker involved, but we left that out.

Once the background was made, we stamped the Trendy Trees using the Stamp-a-ma-Jig for perfect placement.  Colors are Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and Rose Red.  Then to add some fun, we glued on two pieces of the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt (Occasions Mini ends April 30!)).  The Tombow Multi Purpose Glue is perfect for adding the felt.  We stamped "thanks so much" in Rose Red and punched it out with the Modern Label Punch.  We also used an Old Olive punch to create a slight background.  more Sweet Pea Stitched Felt finishes the card.

Awash With Flowers Coffee Mug

Happy Friday!  Today's Bloggers' Challenge is "alter it".  I wanted a new coffee mug for work so I decided to alter one I had on hand.  First I'll show you what I stamped using the sneak peek Awash With Flowers stamp set (this set will be in the new catalog, but you can get it this month as a sneak peek!).

Awash With Flowers is a two step stamp.  I stamped the outline in Basic Gray and the flowers in Bashful Blue.  The butterflies are made with Certainly Celery card stock using the Big Shot and Beautiful Wings Embosslit.  I used Bashful Blue DSP instead of card stock so that it would be easier to insert into the mug.

My quote is computer generated.  I've used this quote for many projects over the years.  You can replace "sons" with any relation and have the perfect sentiment!

Fifth Avenue Floral--Stamp Camp Card

Happy Easter!  I'm not sharing an Easter card today, but one that we will make at April's Stamp Camp.  I made mine a birthday card, but you will have other sentiments available for you to use. 

This card uses the colors from the Cottage Wall DSP (one of my faves).  The flower from Fifth Avenue Floral was stamped on Watercolor Paper and colored with Rich Razzleberry ink and AquaPainter.  A little Crushed Curry finishes the flower.
