As promised, here's a tutorial to make FAUX BUTTONS. Buttons are awesome embellishments for cards, scrapbook pages and gift items. But, sometimes you might not have that "perfect color" button. So what do you do? You make a FAUX BUTTON! I hope you learn something new!
To make Faux Buttons, you will need:
- Scrap paper of desired color (here Brocade Blue)
- Double Circle Punch
- Punch of desired button shape and size (here 3/4" Circle Punch)
- Versamark
- Glassy Glaze Enamel Embossing Powder
- Heat Tool
- Powder Pals
Step 1:
Punch the "button holes" with the Double Circle Punch.
Step 2:
Punch your button shape.
Step 3:
Press your "button" into Versamark to get even coverage.
Step 4:
Cover your "button" with Glassy Glaze Enamel Embossing Powder. Be sure to use a Powder Pal to capture the extra embossing powder.
Step 5:
Heat your "button" with the Heat Tool to melt embossing powder. After the first layer, it will look bumpy.
Step 6:
Repeat steps 3-5 two more times. That means you will have a total of 3 layers of Glassy Glaze Enamel. After the 2nd and 3rd layer, the button shouldn't look as bumpy.
Step 7:
You have your Faux Button!!
Remember, you can make any size and shape button you would like for your project!
Now use your button! This milk carton was a project from April's Stamp Camp. The button here makes a perfect center for the flower! Enjoy!

This is awesome. I have some fairly large camps (for me anyway) and don't want to always buy so many containers of buttons. Thanks so much for sharing. I love this idea!!
