My sister, Debbie, made a card in which she used this technique. I've never tried it before, nor have I seen it. So thanks to Debbie for coming up with this great idea! It looks like embossing to me, so I think I will call it "Faux Embossing". If I'm wrong and this technique has a name, feel free to share it with me. Enjoy!
Supplies: Your favorite stamp or wheel, Classic Inks, Metallic Encore Ink Pad and a sponge dauber. Stamp or wheel should have some solid area to it. I'm using the Bold Snowflakes Jumbo Wheel and the Snow Jumbo Wheel (Holiday Mini) for the background. Classic Ink colors are Blue Bayou and Soft Sky and then the Silver Metallic Encore Ink Pad.
Stamp or wheel your cardstock. I think it's best if you used tone on tone. I'm using Blue Bayou Ink on Blue Bayou cardstock.
Apply Crystal Effects to the desired area.
TIP: To easily get Crystal Effects into thin/small areas, use a pin to drag the Crystal Effects into place. Let Crystal Effects dry completely.
Use the Sponge Dauber and Metallic ink and sponge over the Crystal Effects. Some will get on the background paper, but that adds an extra shine. Cover Crystal Effects completely.
After applying the Metallic ink, let it dry some. When it is dry, it does NOT rub off the Crystal Effects. This is the part that surprised me. But, it's true! I only "faux embossed" the snowflakes, not the little dots.
Finish your card. I sponged Blue Bayou and Silver Ink around the Blue Bayou piece. It is backed with Brushed Silver cardstock. I used the Silver Elastic Cording from the Holiday Mini.
It's coming--World Card Making Day!! Are you ready to create??
Very pretty Sheryl!
