As promised I have a tutorial for another Scallop Envelope Bigz Die Box. You use the die for the lid so that's the main part of the tutorial. But first let me show you a picture.
To make the box, use a piece of card stock cut at 7 1/8" by 7 1/8". Score at 2" on all four sides. Then cut to the score lines on opposite sides (don't cut anything completely off) and adhere the flaps inside to construct the box.
Now for the lid...
You need 4 pieces of card stock cut 4 1/2" x 2 1/2". I'm using Pink Pirouette.
On your Scallop Envelope Die, mark 1" from the fold line at the top (scalloped edge) of the die. My arrow is pointing to that spot. You make this mark because you don't need the whole die. When you place your card stock on the die, line it up to this mark.
Run the card stock through your Big Shot. The "sandwich" is Cutting Platform, 2 shims that come with the Crease Pad, Bigz Die, card stock (all 4 pieces), Premium Crease Pad.
This is what you will get. Use your paper trimmer to cut off both side flaps on each envelope. Cut right on the score line.
Then, use the 1/16" Handheld punch to punch a hole in each of the scallops on all 4 pieces.
Each piece will look like this when done.
Next, cut a piece of coordinating card stock (Riding Hood Red) to 3 1/8" x 3 1/8". Adhere the card stock to each scallop right at the fold line. Be sure to attach this card stock to the "wrong" side of the scallop.
Attach all four scallops. Again, make sure you attach this piece to the "wrong" side of the scallop.
Use your bone folder to crease each score line and then add a 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" piece of Designer Series Paper to the top of the box. I used Holiday Treasures DSP.
Now you want to add a piece of Sticky Strip to each scallop on the outside, not quite to the score line.
Starting on whatever side you want to be the front, add ribbon. Notice I started at the midway point on my front. As you go around the corners, be sure to pull the ribbon taunt. The ribbon is what's needed to support the sides of the lid. I'm using the Riding Hood Red Taffeta.
Continue until you reach the middle again.
Add your bow with a Mini Glue Dot and your lid is complete!
Now that's not too hard, is it? And the result is definitely worth the time. These boxes will be perfect for gift giving at the holidays!
If you haven't purchased your Big Shot, but now know you can't live without it (wink!), go to my SU! website (click on the icon for Online Ordering) and get yours ordered. All of my Big Shot customers that purchase the Special Edition Starter Kit will receive 5 FREE tutorials via email. Now you've seen 3 of my Scallop Envelope Boxes, but believe it or not, I have 2 more. Those tutorials will be part of the 5 FREE ones. You'll be able to make boxes galore!
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. Let me know what you think and thanks for the visit!
