As promised, I have a tutorial for my Layered Butterflies. I hope you enjoy it and find inspiration to create!
Cut three pieces of card stock to 3 1/2" x 5" and run each through the Big Shot using the largest butterfly on the die.
I have a piece of card stock showing the outline of the smaller butterfly (this is for the photo only since the die lines don't show up).
Mark, with tape, a line 3/8" away from the fold line of the butterfly. Your tape should be parallel to the fold line of the butterfly.
Take one of the large butterflies (the one that you want on top), keep it folded, and line up the fold line to the tape marking.
You need to be careful that the bottom part of the butterfly does NOT overlap the large butterfly die. It's not visible in the photo (sorry, I tried), but my card stock butterfly is less than a 1/16" next to the large die.
Run this through the Big Shot. If you are making 3 layers, run your middle layer through the Big Shot in the same manner.
Your top and middle butterflies will look like this. Isn't that cool??
Now you are ready to adhere all three layers together. The bottom layer is just the butterfly and then the double cut butterflies are added.
I use my SNAIL for the outline of the butterfly and Stampin' Dimensionals for the inside wings. You can see that I let a bit of the bottom layer show at the top of the butterfly.
This side view allows you to see the different layers.
Now you are ready to finish your project. I used Kraft Taffeta Ribbon to create the body and feelers (just a simple knot creates the head).
Since I had my Big Shot out, I ran the Chocolate Chip piece through on the Flourish Texture Plate.
My sentiment is printed from the computer on Whisper White card stock.
