Happy 4th of July!!! We are heading to my sister's house for a party today. We are celebrating the 4th, of course. But it's also a welcome home party for my niece whose been in Spain for the last month. I can't wait to see her again!
I wanted to bring a little something to my sister for having us over. I decided to decorate a little tin that I bought a while back from the Target Dollar Spot. I kept it simple: ribbon and a wreath. I'll show you the finished project, then I have some photos and details on how you can make your own Star Spangled Wreath.
I just saw that Our Creative Corner's theme for the week is Red, White and Blue. Everyone is welcome to play and you can win some goodies. So be sure to link your project on their website too!
Isn't that cute? I'm going to fill it with Peppermint Candies since they fit the color scheme.
First punch a 1 1/4" Circle from a piece of Whisper White card stock.
For the smaller base, use the 1" Circle Punch.
Then, use the 1 3/4" Circle Punch to punch around the 1 1/4" circle so you create a ring. This is the larger base.
For the smaller base, use the 1 3/8" Circle Punch to punch around the 1" circle to create a smaller ring.
Cut a 2" x 4" piece of Night of Navy, Real Red and Whisper White card stock. Cover each piece generously with the Versamark Pad. I just press the card stock into the pad to get good coverage. Then emboss each piece with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder.
Next, use the Small Star Punch and punch out 8 stars from each color. You will only use 7 stars, but it's always good to have an extra "just in case".
Add adhesive to each ring (my larger ring is complete) and add the stars. You may need to add extra adhesive as you go along. I used my SNAIL which works just fine. However, you need to make sure you burnish it (rub it) well so that the SNAIL really sticks.
Then I added Stampin' Dimensionals (5) to the back of the smaller wreath and layered it to the top.
Here's another view of the finished project.
I added the ribbon first, making sure the ends wouldn't show in the middle of the wreath. Then I added a few pieces of Sticky Strip to the top and bottom of the wreath to attach to the tin.
This wreath could be used on any project: card, scrapbook or gift item like I did. I hope you like it and that you can use it for your own projects.
