As promised, I have a tutorial for creating a frame with any Embossing Folder. I use all Stampin' Up! products. You'll need a On Board Book Basic--small, Big Shot, Multipurpose Platform, 1 Standard Cutting Pad and Embossing Folder of your choice.
Here we go...
Cut your On Board Book Basic to your preferred size. Mine is cut to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". You can use the Stampin' Up! Table Top Cutter to get a good, clean cut.
Decide what kind of "frame" you want. I am using the Scallop Circles #2 Bigz Die for my frame. Run the On Board Book Basic through the Big Shot to create your frame. Do your best to center it.
You'll notice with the Scallop Circles #2 Bigz Die that some of the smaller scallop cuts as well. That's OK.
Just use Scotch Tape to adhere that section back to the main piece. You'll never know the difference.
Cut your card stock to size and center on your On Board Book Basic. I cut my card stock to 5 1/8" x 3 7/8". I'll have one layer beneath it and then the card base.
Put your On Board Book Basic and card stock in the Embossing Folder. I'm using the Petals a Plenty from the Holiday Mini.
Be sure to place the card stock so that it is up to the side of the embossing folder that has the Stampin' Up! logo. This is to ensure you get the proper embossing (instead of debossing?).
Run the embossing folder through your Big Shot. The "sandwich" is Multipurpose Platform (totally closed), embossing folder, Standard Cutting Plate. This is a tight squeeze, but it will go through without breaking anything.
Here's the finished project we made at my Christmas Stamp a Stack. Be sure to mask the embossed area with a piece of scrap paper before stamping.
Stamp Set: Holy Triptych
Ink: Bravo Burgundy
Card Stock: Shimmery White, Brushed Gold, Bravo Burgundy
Accessories: Big Shot, Petals a Plenty Embossing Folder, On Board Book Basic, Gold Brad
I've seen the idea of actually cutting the embossing folders to make a frame. While that is a viable option, I like the idea of using the On Board Book Basics. You get 4 books for $5.95 so you can create 4 frames. It saves you money and works just as well.
